June 7th, 1942World War II: The Battle of Midway ends. The US victory helped turn the tide of the war in the Pacific.
June 7th, 1991Philippines: Mount Pinatubo erupts, becoming the second largest eruption of the 20th century and ejecting the most particulate matter into the stratosphere since Krakatoa in 1883.
