June 28th, 1950Korean War: The Hangang Bridge in Seoul was destroyed by the South Korean Army, killing between 500 and 1,000 fleeing refugees and stranding their own Fifth Division in an attempt to delay the North Korean advance.
June 29th, 1950Korean War: U.S. President Harry S. Truman authorizes a sea blockade of Korea.
June 30th, 1997 – Ending 156 years of British colonial rule, The United Kingdom transfers sovereignty over Hong Kong to China.
July 1, 1943 – Tokyo City merges with Tokyo Prefecture to form the Tokyo Metropolitan Government. Since this event, Tokyo ceased officially being a city.
July 2, 1976 – Communist North Vietnam annexes South Vietnam to form the unified Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and South Vietnam ceases to exist.
July 4th, 1946Philippines: The Philippines attains full independence from the United States and ends 381 years of near-continuous colonial rule by various powers.
