December 21st, 1946 – An 8.1 Mw earthquake and tsunami in Nankaidō, Japan, destroys over 38,000 homes and kills over 1,300.
December 22nd, 1944 – World War II: The Vietnam People's Army is formed to resist Japanese occupation of Indochina, now Vietnam.
December 24th, 1964 – Vietnam War: In heavily guarded Saigon in South Vietnam, Viet Cong operatives bomb the Brinks Hotel.
December 25th, 1941 – World War II: Japan wins the Battle of Hong Kong and occupies the city.
December 26th, 1972 – Vietnam War: During Operation Linebacker II, the largest single combat launch in Strategic Air Command history sends 120 American B-52 Stratofortress bombers to attack Hanoi.
