April 5th, 1998 – The longest bridge span in the world, the Akashi Kaikyō Bridge, connecting Kobe, Japan to Iwaya on Awaji Island opens to traffic.
April 5th, 2009 – North Korea launches the Kwangmyŏngsŏng-2 rocket which passes over mainland Japan.
April 7th, 1945World War II: American planes sink Japan's battleship Yamato, one of the two largest ever constructed.
April 10th, 1971 – China hosts the U.S. table tennis team in order to foster better relations with the U.S.
