Richard John Beyer, better known by his professional wrestling name "The Destroyer" is one of Japan's most popular wrestlers. The American-born wrestler had been actively engaged as a professional wrestler in Japan since 1963 and contributed greatly to the promotion of the both wrestling and swimming, as well as of sport exchanges between Japan the U.S. and to the development of Japanese professional wrestling, receiving for his contributions the Japanese Order of the Rising Sun (Gold and Silver Rays) in 2017. He passed away on March 7, 2019.
