Military Police in Saigon, 1968

Spec. 4 Robert Scott of Chicago, a member of the U.S. 716th military police battalion in Saigon, carries two children to safety during fighting with the Viet Cong in the Vietnamese capital, May 5, 1968. An American MP with CHICAGO written on the back of his flack jacket carries a Vietnamese boy in his arms as several unidentified photographers snap his photograph. The ARVN national police and rangers are clearing out pockets of VC snipers near Newport Bridge on the northern outskirts of Saigon. VC and North Vietnamese launched an attack shelling more than 120 provincial capitals, towns and allied military installations across South Vietnam and battled government troops inside the capital city of Saigon.
