These two boys were among the curious watchers outside the fence during the dedication ceremony. The music supplied by the U.S. Army Japan band probably served as an attraction to them. Pacific Stars and Stripes dedicated its new plant in Tokyo October 23rd, 1962 with some 150 distinguished American military and Japanese government and business leaders in attendance. The $2 million building was built by the Japanese government radio-television corporation at no cost to Stripes or the U.S. government, under terms of the U.S. - Japan Administration Agreement. The new four-story building will house the entire Stars and Stripes home office and printing plant under one roof.
