Athletes in Olympic Village, 1964

Athletes use lawns of former housing units for practice areas. The hundreds of Americans who less than a year ago moved out of the Washington Heights Housing Annex Tokyo would find it difficult to recognize the place today. The 232 acres of rolling ground which once contained units for 870 families is now the new Olympic Village's temporary home for thousands of the world's finest athletes.
