Eighty junior enlisted U.S. and South Korean servicemembers will be honored at various activities over two days next month for their performance and contributions to the community, according to a news release.

Activities will culminate with the USO’s 39th Six Star Salute Gala at 6 p.m. April 8 at the Seoul Hyatt Hotel.

The Six Star Salute began in 1970 when a group of South Korean community leaders wanted to find a way to express their country’s gratitude by bestowing the honorary rank of “Six Star” to exemplary enlisted personnel, the release said.

Those to be honored were recommended by their commanders.
