Seoul reception point, 1953

ANXIOUS HOURS - Korean nationals sideline the Seoul reception point for South Korean repatriated prisoners of war trying to find relatives among the returning ROKs. The men and women fill the area every day watching the sick and wounded ROKs coming into Seoul from Munsan-ni via helicopter. Korean women sit and stand in the hot sun on the former grounds of the Korean Ministry of Communications building for hours watching helicopters bring in sick and wounded prisoners of war. The Korean POW - just released from communist prison camps - are flown in from the Big Switch prisoner exchange point near Panmunjom and transferred into waiting ambulances. Although they cannot recognize faces from this distance, their vigil continues.
