South Vietnam, April, 1968: Newly-arrived troops of 6th Battalion, 31st Infantry, 9th Infantry Division pick up their rifles from crates on the airport tarmac. To help them identify their weapon at the end of the flight, the soldiers had written their rank and name on the barrel back in the United States.
