Hut by the Youg Chok river, 1957

Enjoying home-like comfort in an extension he added to his regular Jamesway hut, located north of the 38th Parallel, M/Sgt. Clark M. Thaler of Hq., I Corps (Gp.) Arty., relaxes with a good book. A spur-of-the-moment idea combined with R&R and off-duty time has provided plush living quarters for MSgt. Clark M. Thaler. Thaler built a 12-by-20 foot annex with a 6-by-3 foot picture window overlooking a deep canyon by the Youg Chok river. Thaler decided that rather than go on R&R he would use the time - and another three weeks of off-duty - to complete the job. The entire addition was built of scrap material. Unfortunately, Thaler won't be able to enjoy the view for much longer as he returns to the United States by the end of this month.
