Stitch in time - Young girls of the Eden Widow's Home project take sewing lessons in a small classroom at Chunho village, near Seoul. This is one of a few projects begun by the villagers to afford their children some vocational training, and at the same time, bring in badly needed funds. The Eden Widow’s Home was founded by Col. Kim In Kim, for the widows and children of the men under his command who were killed. Crippled himself during the war, Col. Kim used his own funds to establish the home. He bought some chickens for his poverty-stricken tenants to raise and started a dress factory to bring in money. The Republic of Korea's government also pitched in and now supplies half the rations for the home. At first the home did well, but then was hit by a series of unfortunate circumstances; first, the chickens contracted a disease and had to be destroyed, then dress orders began to dwindle. The home now faces a bleak Christmas and a hard future and Col. Kim has decided to ask for help, asking his former U.S. battle buddies for assistance so he can continue to help the widows and children.
