Tokyo, Japan, Sept. 17, 1953: Commonwealth, Indian and American service members celebrate the first anniversary of the Canadian Maple Leaf club in downtown Tokyo, Japan. The club for Canadian and other United Nations personnel opened its doors Sept. 17, 1952, just off of Annex Avenue in the heart of the Ginza shopping center, and featured a lounge with enough space for dancing, a reading and games room, a writing room, and a snack bar featuring hot dogs and hamburgers for those longing for a taste of home.
